How to check battery health on a OnePlus (OxygenOS 16)
In short
Go to Settings, Battery, Battery health. Maximum capacity shows the battery's capacity compared to when it was new. The same page has Smart charging, Custom charging limit and Resume charging.
4 of 4 steps show a real screenshot from our Nord 5. Each step was checked against the maker's own instructions, linked at the end.
Steps
- 1
Open Battery health
Open Settings, Battery and tap Battery health.

- 2
Read Maximum capacity
A lower percentage means less use between charges. Ours said 100%.

- 3
Check Smart charging
It learns your habits and may wait to finish charging. It was off on ours.

- 4
Check Resume charging
Charging stops when full and starts again below the level set: 95% on ours.

If you do not see this option
- OxygenOS 14 (OnePlus manual)? The manual has Settings, Battery, Battery health, Smart charging, as on ours. Source: OxygenOS 14.0 User Manual
- Charge to 80% only? Custom charging limit is on the same page; it was off on ours. More: set a charging limit.
If this does not work
- Health under 80%? Ask OnePlus about a battery replacement.
- Battery drains fast? See which apps use the most battery.
- Battery warm even when idle? Google says heat drains the battery much faster, even when the phone is not in use, and that lasting heat can damage it. Keep the phone out of hot cars and direct sun, especially when it is fully charged.
- Charging slow or stopping early? Google recommends the charger that came with the phone, since other chargers can charge slowly or not at all. Also check Smart charging and Custom charging limit on the Battery health page, which can pause charging on purpose.
- Percentage jumps around after an update? Google suggests occasionally letting the battery run under 10% and then charging it fully overnight. If problems persist, restart the phone and install any app and system updates.
Good to know
Use power saving mode on a OnePlus.
Opening Battery health changes nothing. Smart charging, Custom charging limit and Resume charging only change how the phone charges, not how much it can hold. OnePlus's manual explains that Smart charging learns your habits: when you charge at night, it can pause at 80% and finish just before you usually get up. That slows battery ageing, but on a morning when you wake early you may find the phone not quite full.
If Maximum capacity has dropped and the phone no longer lasts the day, small changes help: a shorter screen timeout, lower brightness and Dark mode all use less power, according to Google. See change the screen timeout on a OnePlus.
