Last updated: 31 October 2026

These terms apply when you read, print, share or reuse anything on howtosimply.com ("How To, Simply", "we", "us"). The site is free, has no accounts and no sign-up. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Who runs the site

The site is operated by the person named in the legal notice, which also gives the postal address. You can reach us at hello@howtosimply.com.

What the site is, and what it isn't

How To, Simply gives general step-by-step help: tech guides for phones and computers, and illustrated articles for home, health, life, education, pets, fashion and the arts. It is information, not a service made for you. We don't know your device, your home, your health or your situation, so you decide whether a step suits you before you follow it.

  • Tech guides name the device and system version our screenshots come from, and the date the guide was last checked. Menus and features change with updates and differ between models, countries and carriers, so your screen may not match ours.
  • Before you reset, erase, update or change security settings, back up your data. Some steps can't be undone; where we know that, the guide says so.
  • Prices, rules and laws mentioned in an article were correct when we checked them, on the date shown. They change; check the official source linked in the article before you act.

Health, safety and specialist topics

Health, first-aid, pet-care and other specialist articles give general information from official bodies such as the NHS, CDC and WHO, which we link. They are not medical, veterinary, legal or financial advice, do not diagnose anything and do not replace a doctor, vet or other professional who can look at your situation. We never give medicine doses.

In an emergency, call your local emergency number straight away (112 in the EU, 999 in the UK, 911 in the US, 1122 in Pakistan, 112 in India) instead of reading on.

For electrical, gas, water and similar jobs at home, follow the safety steps in the article, and stop and call a qualified professional when the article says so or when you are unsure.

How our content is made

  • Real screenshots. Every phone and computer screen in a tech guide is our own screenshot from the device named in the guide, with personal details blurred. We never use made-up screens.
  • Illustrations. Pictures marked "Illustration" are drawings made for us with the help of AI image tools. They show how a step is done; they are not photographs of real people, places or events.
  • AI-assisted writing. We use AI tools to help research and draft text. A person checks every guide and article before it goes live: tech steps against our own screenshots and the maker's official help pages, and other articles against the official sources linked at the end.
  • Named reviewers. When an article says "Co-authored by" or "Reviewed by" a named person, that person checked that version of the article in their field before it went live, and the date is shown. Reviewers do not give personal advice to readers, and you can't book them through this site. Who each reviewer is and what they check is on our reviewers page.

Mistakes and corrections

We work hard to keep every step right, but we can't promise that every page is complete, current or error-free. If something is wrong or out of date, write to hello@howtosimply.com and name the page. We check it and correct it, and changes are listed on What changed in our guides.

Using our content

The text, screenshots, illustrations, videos and the design of this site belong to us or are used with permission. Unless these terms or the law allow it, you need our written permission to copy, republish or sell them.

What you may do without asking:

  • Read, print or save a page as a PDF for your own personal use, or for helping a family member or a student.
  • Share links to our pages anywhere, including with any share buttons on the page.
  • Quote a short passage or a single step, with "How To, Simply" named and a link to the page.
  • Use our guide data API (/api/v1/) and the summaries in our llms.txt and ai.txt files, under the terms on the API page: name "How To, Simply" and link to the guide, visibly, next to the content you use.

What you may not do:

  • Republish whole guides or articles, or our screenshots or illustrations, as your own pages, posts, videos, books or apps.
  • Present our steps or screenshots as tested by you, or remove the credit or the device and version they belong to.
  • Sell our content, or put it behind a paywall.
  • Edit our illustrations or screenshots so they show something they don't.

Search engines, AI assistants and automated access

Search engines and AI assistants are welcome to read the site and to quote it in answers, under the same rule: name "How To, Simply" and link to the page. For structured data, please use the guide data API instead of scraping pages. Don't access the site in a way that slows it down or harms it, for example with very high request rates, and don't try to get around access limits or security measures. We may block traffic that does.

Tools on the site

Our small tools, such as the HEIC converters, run in your own web browser; your files are not uploaded to us. Keep your original files until you have checked the converted copy. The tools are offered free, as they are.

Your feedback

When you answer "Did this guide work?" or write to us, please don't send passwords, codes or other private details, and don't send photos of other people. We may use your suggestions to improve the site without paying for them or naming you. How we handle data is in the privacy policy.

The site shows no ads today. We plan to pay for it with advertising, which may be shown by Google AdSense. Ads will be chosen by the ad network, not by us; showing an ad won't mean we recommend the product. How ads use cookies, and how to change your choice, is in the privacy policy.

We don't use affiliate links today. If we ever do, a link that earns us money will be marked next to the link, and it will never decide which steps or products we recommend.

We link to official help pages and other sources so you can check our work. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Brands and trademarks

iPhone, Mac, Galaxy, Pixel, Redmi, OnePlus, OPPO, HONOR, Nothing, Windows and other product names are trademarks of their owners. They appear here only to say which device or software a guide is for. How To, Simply is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these companies. If you own a right in something shown on this site and believe we have used it wrongly, write to us and we will look at it promptly.

Liability

The site is free, and we provide it as it is. We may change, pause or remove pages, tools or the API at any time.

We are fully liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage from using the site or following its content, such as lost data, a device that has to be reset, or a decision you make based on an article.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the site changes, for example when we add a new feature. The date at the top shows the latest version. Terms that apply to you don't change for something you already did before the update.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator named in the legal notice is based. If you use the site as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.

If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
