Step by step

1. 

   Open About phone

   Open Settings and scroll to the bottom.

   Done

2. 

   Scroll to Device details and tap Android version

   Below the Processor, Camera, RAM, Battery and Screen tiles. The IMEI rows are next to it.

   Done

3. 

   Read Android security update

   Ours: Android version 16, Android security update 1 September 2026, Google Play system update 1 September 2026.

   Done

If you do not see this option

• Same place as Google says? Yes: Google gives Settings, About phone, Android version, then Android security update, the route on ours. Source: Check and update your Android version
• Is an update waiting? The NOTHING OS card at the top of About phone said Up to date on ours. Nothing says About phone, Software info shows a red icon next to the Nothing OS label when an update is waiting. Source: How do I know when a new software update is available?

  

If this does not work

• Two dates, which one counts? Android security update is the monthly patch; Google Play system update covers parts Google updates through Play. Google lists both under Android version. Source: Check and update your Android version
• Patch is months old? Check Settings, System, System updates. Google says most security patches install automatically, and Nothing says you get a notification when a new update is available. Sources: Check and update your Android version, How do I know when a new software update is available?

About this guide

The top of About phone shows only the Nothing OS version; the Android patch date is one tap down, under Android version.
