Step by step

Open Accessibility
Open Settings and tap Accessibility, below Xiaomi Account. On ours it was in the main list, not under Additional settings as in Xiaomi's guide.

Tap Accessibility button
Stay on the General tab. Under Accessibility buttons, below Clarity mode, tap Accessibility button: Quickly access accessibility features.

Set the button up
Size was Small on ours. Fade when not in use (fades after a few seconds so it's easier to see your screen) was on, and Transparency when not in use is a slider. Xiaomi's guide lists the same three.

Choose the button for a feature
The button page lists the steps to get started: go to accessibility settings, select a feature and tap the shortcut, then choose the button. For Magnification (Vision tab), tap Magnification shortcut and pick Accessibility button. Nothing was picked on ours.

Volume keys from the lock screen
Back on the General tab, Volume keys shortcut from lock screen allows a feature shortcut to turn on from the lock screen: hold both volume keys for a few seconds. It was off on ours. Tap the switch to turn it on.
If you do not see this option
- Accessibility under Additional settings? Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 guide gives Settings, Additional settings, Accessibility, then Accessibility button on the General tab. On our Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G Accessibility was in the main Settings list. Source: Generic User Guide for HyperOS 3.0
- No floating button yet? The Accessibility button page on ours says to get started: go to accessibility settings, select a feature and tap the shortcut, then choose the button.
If this does not work
- Volume keys do nothing? Google says the volume keys shortcut starts the app you chose for it, so pick Volume keys on a feature's shortcut first. Hold both keys for a few seconds, as the page says. Source: Use accessibility shortcuts
- Several features on one shortcut? Google says to touch and hold the Accessibility button, or hold both volume keys, and pick the feature from the menu. Source: Use accessibility shortcuts
- Button in the way? Turn on Fade when not in use and drag Transparency when not in use. Google says you can also drag the floating button, or drag it to the edge to make it smaller. Source: Generic User Guide for HyperOS 3.0 · Source: Use accessibility shortcuts
About this guide
Google says accessibility shortcuts are a quick way to turn on accessibility apps or switch between them, and that you choose the shortcut for each app.
The screenshots are from our Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0.308.0 and Android 16, in Light mode. Volume keys shortcut from lock screen was off. We only opened these screens and changed nothing.
Good to know
Clarity mode and Accessibility menu are in the same part of the General tab; Xiaomi says Accessibility menu provides convenient shortcuts to control the phone.
More shortcuts: Quick ball, gesture shortcuts and one-handed mode. The example feature: how to use magnification.
In short: Settings, Accessibility, General: Accessibility button (size, fade, transparency) and Volume keys shortcut from lock screen. Pick the shortcut on each feature.
