About this guide

Google says that with Adaptive Battery on, apps you use less often run less while you're not using them, and that Adaptive Charging completes charging right before you typically unplug. On our Pixel neither has a row of its own on the Battery page: each sits one page further in.

The screenshots are from our Google Pixel 10a with Android 17 (build CP3A.261005.005), in Dark mode. We only looked and changed nothing.

Good to know

Google says both Adaptive Battery and battery optimisation are on by default. For each app, see battery use by app.

More on the same pages: Battery Saver, limit charging to 80% and battery health. Draining fast? What to check.

In short: Adaptive Battery: Settings, Battery, Battery Saver, Adaptive Battery. Adaptive Charging: Settings, Battery, Battery health, Charging optimisation.
