How to turn on keyboard vibration on an iPhone

Open Settings, tap General, then Keyboard, and switch on Haptic Feedback. The iPhone then gives a light tap for every key you press. On other versions the switch is under Settings, Sounds & Haptics, Keyboard Feedback, where you turn on Haptic.

Apple puts it this way: you can hear clicks or feel taps as you type. The taps are called haptic feedback and are off when the iPhone is new.
The screenshots show iOS 26.5 on an iPhone 17. On older versions the rows have the same names, with a slightly different look.
Step by step

Open Settings and tap General
General is the first row of the first group in the main Settings list.

Tap Keyboard
It is in the second group of the General page, below Fonts.

Switch on Haptic Feedback
It is in the third group, between Character Preview and Sound. In the picture it is off.
