2 min read · 3 steps · Updated 4 October 2026
Open Settings, tap Accessibility, then Display & Text Size, and switch on On/Off Labels. Every switch then shows a vertical line when it is on and a circle when it is off, in addition to the green colour.

Switches on the iPhone turn green when they are on. If green and grey are hard to tell apart, the switches can carry a symbol too: a line for on, a circle for off.
The screenshots show iOS 26.5 on an iPhone 17. On older versions the rows have the same names, with a slightly different look.
Step by step

Open Settings and tap Accessibility
Accessibility is in the first group of the main Settings list, below General.

Tap Display & Text Size
It is in the Vision group, below Hover Text.

Switch on On/Off Labels
It is the fourth row of the page. In the picture it is off, and the small circle is already visible inside the switch.
