Step by step

Open Settings and tap Appearance
On iOS 27 Appearance is in the main Settings list, below Accessibility.

Scroll down and tap Display Zoom
It is below Text Size and Bold Text. The row shows the current view, Default on our phone.

Choose Larger Text
The left preview shows bigger controls and text, with less on the screen at once. In the picture Larger Text is selected; nothing changes until you tap the tick.

Or choose Default
The right preview is the normal view, which shows more content.

Tap the tick to apply it
The blue tick is at the top right of the Display Zoom page.
If you do not see this option
- Your iPhone may run a different version. The screenshots here show iOS 27.0.1 (iPhone 14 Pro). On another version a setting can have a different name or sit in a different place. See your version under Settings, General, About. Update under Settings, General, Software Update; back up first, plug in and use Wi-Fi. - Search for it. Open Settings, tap the search field, type the name of the setting and tap the result. Apple notes that the sections in Settings depend on the iPhone model. Source: Find settings on iPhone
- It is greyed out. Screen Time restrictions can lock settings; Apple gives this as the reason when the Apple Account row is greyed out. Check Settings, Screen Time, Content & Privacy Restrictions. Source: If you can't sign out due to restrictions, or your Apple Account is grayed out in Settings
About this guide
Text Size only makes letters bigger. Display Zoom enlarges the whole screen, including buttons, icons and the keyboard, so everything is easier to hit and read.
The screenshots are our own, taken on an iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 27.0.1. On iOS 27 Display Zoom moved to the new Appearance page. The Appearance page on our phone showed Default.
Good to know
To make only the text bigger, use Text Size on the same Appearance page: how to make text bigger on an iPhone.
On iOS 26 and earlier the setting is under Settings, Display & Brightness, Display Zoom.
In short: iOS 27: Settings, Appearance, Display Zoom, Larger Text or Default, tick. iOS 26: Display & Brightness, Display Zoom.
