About this guide

Gemini is Google's assistant. Samsung says it needs a Google account, an internet connection and age 18 or over, and features differ by country. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.

The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16, in Dark mode. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ.

Good to know

To turn the phone off when the side button opens Gemini, use the power icon in the quick panel, or How to power off your phone on the same settings page.

Bixby is Samsung's own assistant: how to turn off Bixby.

In short: Hold the side button, Ask Gemini. Settings, Advanced features, Side button, Long press: Digital assistant.
