GOOGLE PIXEL
How to see screen time and set app timers on a Google Pixel (Android 17)
Go to Settings, Digital Wellbeing. The circle shows today's screen time. Tap App timers at the bottom, tap the hourglass next to an app, choose a time and tap OK. The timer resets at midnight.
7 of 7 steps show a real screenshot from our Pixel 10a. Each step was checked against the maker's own instructions, linked at the end.
Steps
- 1
Open Digital Wellbeing
Go to Settings, Digital Wellbeing. The circle splits today's time by app: Play Store, Settings and Other on ours.

- 2
Open App timers
Tap App timers, under Ways to disconnect. It said No timers set.

- 3
Tap the hourglass
Tap the hourglass next to the app. Ours is Chrome.

- 4
Choose a time
Set app timer says the timer will reset at midnight. Choose hours and minutes. We picked 0 hrs, 5 mins. Tap OK.

- 5
Check the timer
Chrome moved to With timers at the top, showing 5 minutes. Other apps are under Without timers.

- 6
Delete a timer
Tap the hourglass next to the app again. Delete timer is under the time picker. Tap it.

- 7
Check it was removed
Chrome went back to the main list with no timer.

If you do not see this option
- Want activity by day? Tap View app activity details, below the circle.
- Want quiet nights instead? Digital Wellbeing suggested Bedtime mode on ours. Set it in Settings, Modes, Bedtime.
- No Digital Wellbeing icon in your apps? Google says to turn on Show icon in the app list in Digital Wellbeing's settings. It then opens like any other app. Source: Manage how you spend time on your Android phone with Digital Wellbeing
If this does not work
- Timer ran out? Google says the app is paused and its icon turns grey until midnight. Change or delete the timer in App timers.
- Timer seems to restart? The sheet says it resets at midnight.
- Can't find the timer you set? Apps with a timer move to With timers at the top of App timers.
- Need the app before midnight? Google says that to use the app again before the timer resets, delete the timer. Tap the hourglass next to it and choose Delete timer, as in the steps.
- Someone else keeps changing your limits? Google says you can set a 4-digit PIN so only you can change app limits. Keep it private.
- Want to limit one website, not all of Chrome? Google says you can set a daily limit for a website from the Chrome entry on the Digital Wellbeing dashboard.
Good to know
Silence the phone at set times: Do Not Disturb and Modes.
Google says the dashboard also shows how often you unlock the phone and open apps, and how many notifications you received. Tap an app in the list for more detail or to change its settings. This helps you see which apps pull you back most, not just which ones you use longest.
Timers never delete anything. When time runs out, Google says the app closes and its icon dims until midnight; the app and its data stay on the phone. Delete the timer at any time to undo it.
Google describes Focus mode as a way to pause chosen apps: while it is on, you can't open them and won't get their notifications. It can run now, on a schedule, or be paused with Take a break.
