By · 2 min read · 3 steps · Updated 5 October 2026

Short answer

Open Settings, Home screen, scroll down and switch off Add media page to Home screen. Swiping right from the first Home screen then no longer opens Google Discover. Switch it on again to bring it back.

About this guide

Samsung calls the page to the left of your Home screen the media page. On our phone it was on and set to Google Discover.

The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.

Good to know

Discover also sits in the Google app; turning off the media page does not remove the Google app.

In short: Settings, Home screen, switch off Add media page to Home screen.
