About this guide
Hiding takes an app off the Home screen and out of the Apps screen without uninstalling it. It does not lock the app: anyone who knows it is there can still find it. For real privacy, use Secure Folder, which needs a screen lock.
The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.
Good to know
Secure Folder hides apps behind a separate lock. It is under Settings, Security and privacy, More security settings. On our phone it first asked for a screen lock, because none was set.
In short: Settings, Home screen, Hide apps on Home and Apps screens, tick, Done.
