Short answer

Open Settings, Display, Edge panels and switch it off at the top. The small handle at the side of the screen disappears. To keep it but move it out of the way, open Handle instead.

About this guide

Edge panels are the shortcut panels you swipe in from the side of the screen. If you keep opening them by accident, switch them off or change the handle.

The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.
