By Saadat Rafiq · 2 min read · 3 steps · Published 6 October 2026
Open Gallery, tap Albums, the three dots and Hide albums. Tick the albums you do not want to see in Gallery. Hidden albums can still appear in other apps; to hide photos from every app, move them to Secure Folder.

Step by step
Open Hide albums
Open Gallery, tap Albums at the bottom, then the three dots and Hide albums.

Choose the albums
Tick the albums to hide and go back. Ours lists Camera, Screenshots and Internal storage; we changed nothing and blurred the thumbnails.

Know what hiding does
The note at the top of the same screen says it: hidden albums can still show in other apps. To hide photos from every app, move them to Secure Folder.
About this guide
Hiding an album tidies Gallery; it does not lock or protect the photos. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.
The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16, in Dark mode. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ.
Good to know
To show an album again, open Hide albums and untick it.
Samsung's help page describes the opposite way round, Select albums to show in Gallery settings; on our One UI 8.5 phone the option in the Albums menu is called Hide albums.
For photos nobody else should see, use Secure Folder, which needs a screen lock.
In short: Gallery, Albums, three dots, Hide albums, tick the albums.
