By · 2 min read · 3 steps · Updated 5 October 2026

Short answer

Swipe up on the Home screen to open the Apps screen, tap the three dots next to the search bar at the top, tap Sort and choose Alphabetical order. Custom order puts the apps back where you placed them by hand.

About this guide

New apps land at the end of the Apps screen, so after a while nothing is where you expect it. Alphabetical order fixes that in one tap. Ours was set to Custom order.

The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ. The app icons are blurred. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.
