GOOGLE PIXEL
How to share a Wi-Fi password on a Google Pixel (Android 17)
In short
Open Settings, Network and Internet, Internet. Tap the gear next to your network, then Share. The Share Wi-Fi page shows a QR code to scan and the password in plain text. Our Pixel had no screen lock, so it showed them without asking for a PIN.
6 of 6 steps show a real screenshot from our Pixel 10a. Each step was checked against the maker's own instructions, linked at the end.
Steps
- 1
Open Internet
Open Settings and tap Network and Internet, then Internet. The network you are on is listed under it.

- 2
Tap the gear
On the Internet page, your network says Connected and has a gear on the right. Tap the gear, not the name. We blurred every network name.

- 3
Tap Share
Network details opens, with Forget, Disconnect and Share at the top. Tap Share. Ours also showed Frequency 2.4 GHz and Security WPA/WPA2-Personal.

- 4
Let them scan the QR code
Share Wi-Fi opened straight away on ours, without a PIN or fingerprint; our phone has no screen lock. Google says your friend scans the code with another device to join the network. We blurred the code.

- 5
Or read out the password
Under the code it says Wi-Fi password: and then the password in plain text. We blurred ours. Read it out or type it on the other device.

- 6
Quick Share
A Quick Share button is at the bottom of the page. We didn't try it.

If you do not see this option

- Want a quicker way? 9to5Google says that since Android 14 the Internet tile in Quick Settings has a Share Wi-Fi button. It only works for the network you are on now. Source: How to share your Wi-Fi password in seconds on Android
- Sharing a network you are not on? 9to5Google says saved networks have a Share button too. Ours listed them under Saved networks, at the bottom of the Internet page. Source: How to share your Wi-Fi password in seconds on Android

If this does not work
- The other phone can't scan the code? Read out the password instead. On a Pixel, see how to scan a QR code on a Google Pixel.
- Friend still can't connect? Check they picked the same network, then see Pixel Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting.
- Your network is hidden? A hidden network does not appear in the other phone's list. Google says that when adding it by hand, open Advanced options and set Hidden network to Yes, then type the name and password exactly.
Good to know
The password shows in plain text, so only open Share Wi-Fi when you mean to share it.
No Wi-Fi to share? Share your mobile data instead: how to turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot on a Google Pixel.
Sharing does not change anything on your Pixel or your router; the other device simply saves the network like any other. There is no way to take the password back from your phone. To stop someone using your Wi-Fi later, change the password in the router's settings; every device, including your Pixel, then has to join again with the new one. On your own phone, Google says you can touch and hold a saved network to remove one you no longer use.
