Open the Camera app and point it at the QR code; a link appears on the screen to tap. If nothing happens, turn on Scan QR codes in Camera settings. You can also swipe down twice and tap Scan QR code in the quick panel.

Step by step
Point the camera at the code
Open Camera in Photo mode and hold the code in the frame for a moment. Tap the link or text that appears to open it.

Turn on Scan QR codes
If no link appears, open Camera, the settings gear, and check Scan QR codes. It is on on ours.

Or use the quick panel button
Swipe down twice to open the full quick panel and tap Scan QR code. We blurred our carrier.
About this guide
Galaxy phones read QR codes with the normal camera, so you do not need a separate scanner app. We only looked at these screens on our phone and changed nothing.
The screenshots are from a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with One UI 8.5 and Android 16, in Dark mode. Other Galaxy phones on One UI 8 use the same menus; on older One UI versions a few names and positions differ.
Good to know
If Scan QR code is not in your quick panel, tap the pencil to edit the panel and add it: how to edit the quick panel buttons.
Check where a link goes before you open it. A QR code on a parking meter or a flyer can be a sticker placed over the real one.
In short: Camera, point at the code, tap the link. Camera settings, Scan QR codes on. Or quick panel, Scan QR code.
