Tap the three dots in Chrome and choose Downloads: the list shows every file Chrome downloaded. Tap the gear at the top to see the Download location. The Files app on your phone shows the same files under Downloads.

Step by step
Open Downloads
Tap the three dots at the top right of Chrome and choose Downloads.

Find the file
Downloaded files are listed newest first; tap one to open it. Our test phone had none, so the page shows how much storage is used and "You'll find your downloads here".

Check the download location
Tap the gear on the Downloads page. Download location shows where Chrome saves files; on our phone it was the Downloads folder Chrome uses inside its own app folder.
About this guide
A PDF or a photo you downloaded seems to have vanished. Chrome keeps its own list and shows where the files went.
The screenshots are from Chrome and the Gmail app on a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, in dark mode. Both apps look the same on other Android phones; only the phone's own settings screens differ by brand.
Good to know
Google's help page points to the phone's Files app for everything you downloaded; on a Galaxy that is My Files.
In short: Chrome, three dots, Downloads; the gear shows the download location.
