By Abu Bakar Saadat · Reviewed by Saadat Rafiq · 2 min read · 3 steps · Published 7 October 2026
In Gmail open Settings, tap your account and tap Mobile signature. Type the signature and tap OK. It is used only for mail sent from the app; leave it blank and the app uses the signature from the Gmail website.

Step by step

Open Mobile signature
Gmail, menu, Settings, tap your account and scroll to General. Mobile signature showed Not set on ours.

Type the signature
The box says: add a mobile signature, or leave blank to use your web signature. Plain text only, no pictures or links with other text.

Tap OK
New mails from the app on this phone use it from now on. We tapped Cancel, so ours stayed Not set.
About this guide
The Gmail app has its own plain-text signature, separate from the one on your computer. That is why mails from the phone can sign off differently. Our Gmail account is a real one, so addresses, senders and subjects are blurred; the only mail we touched was a test message we sent to ourselves.
The screenshots are from Chrome and the Gmail app on a Samsung Galaxy A57 5G with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, in dark mode. Both apps look the same on other Android phones; only the phone's own settings screens differ by brand.
Good to know
The signature is set per account, so each account in the app can have its own.
For a signature with a logo or links, set it on the Gmail website and leave the mobile signature blank.
In short: Gmail, Settings, account, Mobile signature: type it, OK. Blank uses the web signature.
