Open Settings, Notifications and, under General, turn on Allow notification snoozing (off on ours); Notification dot on app icon, just below, sets the dots. Then expand a notification and tap the clock icon at its bottom right: ours snoozed for 1 hour at once, with 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 2 hours under the arrow.

Step by step

Open Notifications
Open Settings and tap Notifications: Notification history, conversations.

Turn on Allow notification snoozing
Scroll down to General, the last group. Allow notification snoozing is below Hide silent notifications in status bar. It was off on ours. Tap the switch; it turns light, with a tick.

Tap the snooze icon on a notification
Swipe down from the top of the screen and expand a notification with the arrow at its top right. A clock icon with a Z shows at its bottom right; ours was on Set a screen lock. Tap it.

It snoozes for 1 hour
On ours one tap snoozed it straight away: the notification turned into Snoozed for 1 hour, with a down arrow and Undo.

Pick another time, or Undo
Tap the down arrow next to 1 hour for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 2 hours. Undo brings the notification back now. We tapped Undo.

Notification dot on app icon
Back under General, Notification dot on app icon was on on ours. Turn it off if you don't want dots on your app icons.

To turn snoozing off
Tap Allow notification snoozing again. The switch shows a cross. We put ours back to off.
If you do not see this option
- No snooze icon on a notification? Expand the notification first. On ours the ongoing Pixel setup in progress notification had no snooze icon even when expanded; Set a screen lock had one.
- Snooze after the Down arrow? Google says to tap the down arrow, then Snooze, and the down arrow again to change the time. On our Android 17 Pixel the clock icon showed once the notification was expanded, and the time choices were under the arrow next to Snoozed for 1 hour. Source: Control notifications on Android
- No Allow notification snoozing switch? Google says settings can vary by phone. On our Pixel it was under General, at the bottom of Settings, Notifications. Source: Control notifications on Android
- Want dots for only some apps? Google says an app's own notification settings have an Allow notification dot switch too. Source: Control notifications on Android
If this does not work
- Can't snooze an ongoing notification? On ours the ongoing Pixel setup in progress notification showed no snooze icon. Finish or stop what it reports instead.
- Snoozed one by mistake? Tap Undo on the Snoozed for 1 hour line. On ours the notification came straight back.
- No dots on the home screen icons? Check Notification dot on app icon here. The home screen has its own Notification dots switch: see home screen settings on a Google Pixel.
About this guide
Snoozing hides a notification for a while and brings it back later. On a Pixel it only works once you turn on one switch.
The screenshots are from our Google Pixel 10a with Android 17 (build CP3A.261005.005), in Dark mode. Snoozing was off. We turned it on, snoozed one notification, tapped Undo and turned snoozing off again.
