Your result

Add up the points shown next to your answers. Your total (0 to 48) matches one of the results below. This quiz helps you think things through; it is not a diagnosis.

  • 40 to 48 points

    Your relationship looks healthy!

Your answers show the key signs of a healthy relationship: you talk things through, respect each other's boundaries and privacy, and support each other[1]. Keep checking in on each other's needs as things change[1].

  • 28 to 39 points

Mostly healthy, with a few things to work on.

Most of your answers are healthy, but a few habits sit further along the relationship spectrum, towards unhealthy[2]. Pick one thing, like how arguments end or time with friends, and talk about it calmly together. Setting clear boundaries can help[3].

  • 14 to 27 points

Some of your answers show unhealthy signs.

Several answers point to unhealthy behaviour, like pressure, put-downs or not being able to say no[2]. You deserve to be respected[1]. Talking to someone you trust can help you work out what you want. If anything makes you feel unsafe, confidential advocates can listen[1].

  • 0 to 13 points

Your answers show warning signs of abuse.

Your answers include behaviours that sit at the abusive end of the relationship spectrum, such as control, threats, cutting you off from people, or fear[2]. This is not your fault[1]. You can talk confidentially to a trained advocate, and if you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

What healthy, unhealthy and abusive look like

All relationships sit somewhere on a spectrum from healthy to abusive, with unhealthy in the middle[2]. These are the main ideas behind the quiz.

Healthy communication
Talking openly about what you need and how you feel, and listening when your partner does the same.[1]
Boundaries
The limits you set about what you are and aren't comfortable with. In a healthy relationship, both people respect them.[1][3]
Mutual respect
Valuing each other's feelings, opinions and choices, even when you disagree.[1]
Space and privacy
Each person keeps their own friends, time and privacy, such as their phone and messages.[1]
Unhealthy relationship
The middle of the spectrum: things like poor communication, pressure or disrespect that make one person unhappy.[2]
Abusive relationship
The far end of the spectrum: one person uses control, threats, isolation or violence to gain power over the other.[2]
