How to find and manage saved passwords on an iPhone
2 min read · 7 steps · Updated 3 October 2026
Open the Passwords app and unlock it with Face ID or your passcode. Tap All and then the website or app to see its user name and password. To have the iPhone fill them in for you, turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys under Settings, General, AutoFill & Passwords.
The Passwords app holds every password the iPhone has saved for you, along with passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords and verification codes. With iCloud Keychain switched on, the same list is on your iPad and Mac.
Menu names are from recent versions of iOS.
Step by step
Open the Passwords app
It came with iOS 18. On older versions the same list is under Settings, Passwords. Unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or the passcode.
Find an account
Tap All and scroll, or type the name of the website or app into the search field. Tap the entry to see the user name and the password. Tap the password to copy it.
Turn on AutoFill
Open Settings, General, AutoFill & Passwords and switch on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys. When you sign in somewhere, the iPhone offers the saved details above the keyboard.
Let the iPhone create strong passwords
When you open a new account in Safari or an app, the iPhone suggests a long, random password and saves it. Accept it. You never have to type or remember it.
Check the Security list
Tap Security in the Passwords app. It lists passwords that are easy to guess, used more than once, or known from a data leak. Start with the leaked ones and change them on the websites concerned.
Share with family
Create a shared group in the Passwords app and add family members from your contacts. Passwords you move into the group, such as for a streaming service, are visible to everyone in it and stay up to date.
Add verification codes
For accounts with two-step sign-in, the app can produce the six-digit codes: open the entry, tap Set Up Verification Code and scan the QR code that the website shows you when you turn on two-factor authentication.
Good to know
Saved Wi-Fi passwords are in the Wi-Fi section of the app and can be shared from there.
Deleted entries stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
To sync with your other devices, turn on Settings, your name, iCloud, Passwords.
