How to share a Wi-Fi password from an iPhone

Unlock your iPhone and hold it near the other person's iPhone, iPad or Mac while they select the Wi-Fi network. Tap Share Password on the card that appears. For Android phones, open the Passwords app, tap Wi-Fi and show the QR code.
You do not have to read a long password aloud. An iPhone can pass it to another Apple device in one tap, or show a QR code that any phone can scan.
Menu names are from iOS 26. The pictures are simplified diagrams of the screen, not screenshots.
Step by step
Check the basics
Both devices need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on. You must be connected to the network, and each of you needs the other's Apple Account email address saved in Contacts.
Ask the other person to choose the network
On their device they open Settings, Wi-Fi and tap the network name. The password field appears.
Hold your unlocked iPhone close and tap Share Password
A card appears on your screen within a few seconds. Tap Share Password, then Done. Their device joins the network.
Show a QR code for other phones
Open the Passwords app, tap Wi-Fi, choose the network and tap Show Network QR Code. An Android phone joins by scanning it with its camera.
Good to know
If the card does not appear, lock and unlock your iPhone, move the devices closer together and make sure Personal Hotspot is off on both.
To read the password itself, open Settings, Wi-Fi, tap the i next to the network and tap the Password field.
Share only with people you trust. Devices on the same Wi-Fi can see each other.
