How to find saved passwords on an Android phone

2 min read · 6 steps · Updated 3 October 2026

Short answer

Open Chrome, tap the three dots, then Settings and Google Password Manager. Tap the website or app, confirm with your fingerprint or screen lock, and tap Show password. The same list is in the Google Password Manager app and at passwords.google.com on any device.

Passwords you let Chrome or Android save are stored in Google Password Manager, inside your Google Account. That is why they follow you to a new phone and to Chrome on a computer. Here is where to see them, change them and check whether any have been leaked.

Menu names below are from Google Pixel phones and Google's own apps on a recent Android version. Samsung, Xiaomi and other brands rename some of them. The pictures are simplified diagrams, not screenshots.

    Open Google Password Manager

Open Chrome, tap the three dots (More), tap Settings and then Google Password Manager. If you use it often, install the Google Password Manager app from the Play Store, which opens the same list from an icon on the home screen.

  2. See a password

Tap the website or app in the list, or use the search field. Confirm with your fingerprint, face or screen lock, then tap Show password.

  3. Change or delete an entry

Open the entry and tap Edit, change the user name or password and tap Save. In the same place you can add a note, for example the answer to a security question. Tap Delete to remove the entry.

  4. Check for leaked passwords

In Google Password Manager, tap Checkup. It lists passwords that have appeared in a data breach, are used on several sites, or are weak. Change the leaked ones first, on the websites concerned.

  5. SettingsOffer to save passwordsAuto sign-inExport passwords

Decide what Chrome asks and does

Tap the Settings icon in Google Password Manager. Offer to save passwords controls whether you are asked after signing in somewhere. Auto sign-in signs you in to sites and apps without asking each time.

  6. Export a copy

In the same settings, tap Export passwords and download the file. It is a plain .csv file that anyone can read, so delete it as soon as you have used it.

Good to know

Editing an entry here only changes what the phone remembers. To change the real password, do that on the website first.

In short: Chrome, three dots, Settings, Google Password Manager, tap the entry, unlock, Show password. Checkup finds leaked ones. Settings icon for saving, auto sign-in and export.
