How to find a saved Wi-Fi password on Windows 11
2 min read · 4 steps · Updated 2 October 2026
Open Settings, choose Network & internet, then Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks. Click the network and choose View next to "View Wi-Fi security key". Windows shows the password.
Your PC remembers the password of every Wi-Fi network it has joined. If you need it for a new phone or a guest, you can look it up in Settings.
These steps are for Windows 11. The pictures are simplified diagrams of the Settings window, not screenshots, so colours and spacing on your PC look a little different.
Step by step
Open Settings and choose Network & internet
Press Windows + I and click Network & internet on the left.
Click Wi-Fi
Click the Wi-Fi row itself, not the switch on its right.
Click Manage known networks
You see every network this PC has saved.
Choose the network and view the key
Click the network name, then click View next to "View Wi-Fi security key". The password appears in a small window.
Good to know
If you do not see "View Wi-Fi security key", install the latest Windows updates. On older versions, open Control Panel, Network and Sharing Centre, click your Wi-Fi name, then Wireless Properties, Security, and tick Show characters.
The quickest way to share Wi-Fi with a phone: on the same network page, Windows can show a QR code that the phone camera scans.
Only share the password with people you trust. Anyone on your Wi-Fi can see other devices on the network.
In short: Settings, Network & internet, Wi-Fi, Manage known networks, pick the network, View Wi-Fi security key.
