How to use Hide My Email on an iPhone

Short answer

Open Settings, tap your name, iCloud, then Hide My Email and Create New Address. You get a random address that forwards to your real inbox. Give it a label, use it to sign up, and deactivate it if it starts to attract spam. It needs iCloud+.

Hide My Email creates throwaway addresses for newsletters, shops and sign-ups. Mail sent to them arrives in your normal inbox, but the sender never learns your real address.

Menu names are from iOS 26. The pictures are simplified diagrams of the screen, not screenshots.

Step by step

  1. Check that you have iCloud+

Any paid iCloud storage plan includes it. The feature needs iOS 15 or later.

  2. iCloudPhotos›iCloud Drive›Private Relay›Hide My Email›

Open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud

Hide My Email is in the iCloud+ section.

  3. Tap Create New Address

A random address ending in icloud.com is shown. Tap Use Different Address if you want another.

  4. Label it and tap Next

Write where you will use it, for example "Shoe shop newsletter". That is how you find it again later.

  5. Use the address

Copy it into the sign-up form. In Safari and in Mail, Hide My Email is also offered directly when you tap an email field.

  6. Switch it off when you have had enough

Back in Settings, Hide My Email, tap the address and choose Deactivate Email Address. Nothing sent to it reaches you any more.

Good to know

Replies you send from Mail to such a message go out from the random address as well, so your real one stays hidden.

You can create as many addresses as you like. The inbox they forward to is set under Forward To at the bottom of the Hide My Email page.

"Sign in with Apple" uses the same idea: choose Hide My Email there and the app receives a private relay address.

In short: Settings, your name, iCloud, Hide My Email, Create New Address.
