How to turn on Night Light on Android

Short answer

Open Settings, tap Display, then Night Light, and switch it on. Tap Schedule to have it turn on from sunset to sunrise or at times you choose, and drag Intensity to set how warm the screen looks.

Night Light gives the screen a warm amber tint in the evening, which many people find easier on the eyes in dim light.

Menu names below are from Google Pixel phones on a recent Android version. Samsung, Xiaomi and other brands rename some of them, so the Samsung name is given where it differs. The pictures are simplified diagrams of the screen, not screenshots.

    Open Settings and tap Display

    On newer versions it may be called Display & touch.

    Tap Night Light

    On Pixel 10 phones it is inside Comfort filters. On Samsung it is called Eye comfort shield.

  3. Switch it on and set the intensity

    Drag the Intensity slider until the colour is comfortable.

  4. Set a schedule

    Tap Schedule and choose Turns on from sunset to sunrise, which needs location, or Turns on at custom time.

Good to know

The quick way: swipe down twice from the top and tap the Night Light tile. Add it with the pencil icon if it is missing.

Turn it off when you edit photos or compare colours.
