Most Wi-Fi printers work with Android without a cable or a computer. Android has a print service built in that finds printers on your network.
Step by step
Connect the phone and printer to the same Wi-Fi
A printer on a guest network will not be found.
Open what you want to print
In Chrome, Google Photos, Gmail, Drive or Files.
Tap the three dots or Share, then Print
In some apps Print is inside the share menu.
Choose the printer
Tap the menu at the top that says Select a printer and pick yours. Tap the small arrow below it to set copies, paper size, colour and which pages.
Tap the printer icon
The job is sent. A notification shows its progress.
Good to know
If no printer appears, open Settings, Connected devices, Connection preferences, Printing, and make sure Default Print Service is on. You can add the manufacturer's print service there too.
Many printer makers have their own app with extra options such as scanning and ink levels.
To keep a copy without printing, choose Save as PDF in the printer menu.
Printer problems in general: printer not working.
In short: Same Wi-Fi, open the file, three dots, Print, choose the printer.
