How to set an alarm on an Apple Watch

2 min read · 5 steps · Updated 2 October 2026

Short answer

Open the Alarms app on the watch, tap the plus button, set the time with the Digital Crown and tap the tick. Or raise your wrist and say "Set an alarm for 6:30 am".

An alarm on the watch taps your wrist and plays a sound. In Silent mode it only taps, which wakes you without disturbing anyone else.

Step by step

  1. Open the Alarms app

Press the Digital Crown to see your apps and tap the orange alarm clock.

  2. Tap the plus button

Tap the hours or minutes and turn the Digital Crown to set them. Tap AM or PM if you use a 12-hour clock.

  3. Tap the tick

The alarm is saved and switched on.

  4. Set it to repeat

Tap the alarm in the list, then Repeat, and choose the days. You can also give it a label and switch Snooze on or off.

  5. Stop or snooze it

When it goes off, tap Stop or Snooze, or press the side button to stop and the Digital Crown to snooze.

Good to know

Alarms set on the iPhone can also alert on the watch. In the Watch app, tap Clock and switch on Push Alerts from iPhone.

For a silent wake-up, turn on Silent mode in Control Centre. The alarm then only taps your wrist.

On its charger and lying on its side, the watch works as a bedside clock and its alarm rings even in Silent mode.

A wake-up alarm that belongs to a sleep schedule is set in the Sleep app instead.

In short: Alarms app, plus, set the time, tick. Or ask Siri.
