Statistics Android 02/2018: Nougat increases its presence

We have the 2nd report of this year about the Android platforms that exist in these moments, all thanks to the publication of the data handled by Google.

Although earlier versions of Nougat and Oreo will lose procentajes, not as large as 0.1% who has lost Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich keeps the percentage, but them is little, because as we mentioned Whatsapp will help this reduction to that in the coming months, we estimate 3 these versions are reduced. But the tendency is that they lower the percentages, that’s a good news

The growth of Nougat and Oreo are going at a pace a little more relaxed than the previous week as we see a growth of version 7.0 of 1.2% does not increase with respect both to the previous month, the version 7.1.X grows even pace of 1%, let’s say that your growth is this feeling.

On version 8.0 oreo, we already have several percentages, has had a growth of 0.8%, a 0.3% more than the previous month and the version is 8.1 with a 0.3%, with a growth of 0.1% over the previous month, we will soon see the march data, which soon will be published.

It is one of the data to take into account to observe the evolutions of the versions that currently exist in Android and a good reference when developing applications. To do this we show the graph of the previous month as the current month to see the differences for yourselves:

January 2018
Android 01/2018
February 2018
Android 02/2018

Below is the table that represents what we have been able to see on the graph in percentages, first of the previous month:

January 2018

February 2018

Screens, Densities and Open GL

We see that the size of the normal screen density xhdpi continues to dominate with a 39.6% (0.8% more than in the previous month) followed by the density hdpi 29.5% who has lost one (0.7%), we see that it is established as a density dominant xhdpi, but we see a growth of the density xxhdpi with a 22.5% (a growth of 0.3%) if there is growth in the other densities, but smaller, the normal screen is still the dominator with 89.8% (maintained) in the different densities.

Open GL

While in the version of Open Gl, the domain is still version 3.0 with a 45.3% (with a rise of 0.2%) from the version 2.0 with a 36.4% (a decrease of 0.8%) and each month down, but with the advent of version 3.1 with a 18.3% (with a growth of 0.6%), that is to say this month we see a growth both of the version 3.0 as of the 3.1. We will see the data of the following month.

January 2018

OpenGL ES Version Distribution
2.0 37.2%
3.0 45.1%
3.1 17.7%
February 2018

OpenGL ES Version Distribution
2.0 36.4%
3.0 45.3%
3.1 18.3%
January 2018
Android OpenGL 01/2018
February 2018
Android OpenGL 02/2018

We see an increase of the version of Nougat in front of the previous versions and a little shy the growth of the version 8, Android Oreo.

We know that in this MWC the presence of the new version is more palpable not like other years that came with an earlier version with the promise of upgrading.

What is hopeful is that the new devices that the vast majority will go on sale in the spring and until September we will not see if the Treble has been the solution to reduce the versions, but it is all a question of the manufacturers, because Google if you’re doing the important things.

The advantage, are the ROMs that already come with Treble and I think that these months may be a revolution for previous versions.
