How to Enable Hidden Night Mode for Android 7.0 Nougat

This has a tendency to happen; we see a feature we like in a preview of a new Android version, but when the final version comes out, it disappears. It´s happened again with Android 7.0 Nougat and the Night Mode feature it had when the first developer preview came out. When users first saw this, many were happy and hoped that it would stay there until the end, but unfortunately that was not the case.

Many were hoping to see this feature in the System UI Tuner, but it wasn´t there either. The good news that the main code for Night Mode in Nougat is still there, but you need an app to help you access it. What this app does is that it lets you enjoy the blue-cancelling screen filter so when you´re using your Android device at night, your able to sleep like a baby afterward.

Download Night Mode Enabler

To get the Night Mode, you will need to enable the System UI Tuner. Once you have that setup, you need to install the Night Mode Enabler from Google Play that is free to download, and it doesn´t require root. Thanks to the developer Mike Evans this is possible.

Once you download the app and open it, there is only going to be one button right smack in the middle. Then you will be taken to the System UI Tuber setting where the feature needs to be turned on.

How to Enable the Night Mode Quick Settings Tile

Just because it´s dark outside, it doesn´t mean you´re going to go to sleep. If you want to be in control as to when Night Mode Kicks in then adding it to the Quick Tiles is the answer to your prayers.

The first thing you need to do is to fully expand the Quick Settings menu by swiping down twice from the top of your display. Now, tap on the edit button on the bottom right-hand corner and look for the Night Mode toggle.

Once you´ve located it, long-press on it and drag it towards the top. From now on you will be in charge as to when it’s turned on or off.

Night Mode is going to make your screen look orange. Don´t worry; this is normal since the blue light is no longer there, this is what it looks like.

Can´t Add Quick Settings Toggle for Night Mode?

You keep trying, but you just can´t seem to insert the Quick Settings toggle for Night Mode. Do you think that you´re doing something wrong? You´re probably not, why? Because many other user´s are having the same issue but it´s because of a bug in Nougat.

To try and fix this, you need to reset your Quick Settings by tapping on the Edit menu and then selecting the three dots menu button on the top right and tapping on Reset.

If for some reason this still didn´t work, then maybe a future update might fix the problem or just be happy you’re able to use Night Mode with the app. Sorry.

Conclusion

As you can see Nougat brings us some great features, but it can also bring us some bugs with it too. We can´t always have what we want, but we can still waste our time daydreaming about it. Were you able to enable everything? Share your experience in the comments.
