When you’re getting the hang of something, there is so much to take in. For example, let’s say you’re new to Mac and you want to know everything there is to know to become a Mac Genius. The best thing you can do is get the basics out of the way.
One of those basics is learning how to uninstall a program on Mac. If you used to be a Windows user, keep in mind that Mac OS X doesn’t have an uninstall program like Windows does. Things work a little differently with Mac.
Quickly Uninstall Mac Programs
To uninstall a program on Mac open a Finder window. You can open a Finder by clicking anywhere on the desktop, or you can choose the icon from the Dock.
Another way you can do it is by pressing F11, which will make all the other windows disappear and you will only be left with the desktop and the Finder. When you’re ready to make everything come back, you can press F11 again.
Now that you have the Finder windows open click on Applications in the sidebar. Right-click on the app you can to get rid of and choose Move to Trash. Or, if you prefer, you can also drag and drop the icon to the trash if that’s easier for you.
Once you have done the previous step with all the apps, you want to get rid of, control-click or right-click on the Trash icon to clean everything out.
If you see that a particular app is asking you for a password, that’s because that app was installed by using the Mac package installer. If you remove them, it’s also going to get rid of any changes they made throughout the entire system.
