It´s one of the most dreaded things that can happen to you while using your Android device. You´re browsing through some files, and you accidentally hit the delete button. You suffer a brief panic attack because you just erased a picture you didn´t want to remove.
It´s something that has happened to all of us and that´s why backing up your photos to the cloud is a must. But, not everyone is a cloud fan and wants to keep their picture on their smartphone. The only other solution is to add a recycling bin to your Android device.
How to Create a Recycling Bin to Your Android Phone or Tablet
Adding a recycling bin to your Android device is easier than it sounds. You can easily add one by downloading an app such as Dumpster. This app is one of the most popular apps that allow you to add a recycling bin your Android phone or tablet. Dumpster is very easy to use and has a very simple yet elegant interface. If over 10 million people downloaded, it´s for a good reason, right?
Dumpster is not able to recover any pictures of videos you have deleted before you installed the app. It will only start saving files after you install the app. To test out the app, I recommend that you remove something you couldn’t care less if you got back or not, just to make sure the app is working correctly.
Once you have the app installed, go to Settings (by tapping on the hamburger icon) and set up Dumpster, so it will save the files you want it to keep. For example, if you want the app only to save pictures, toggle that option on.
If you ever want to restore anything you’ve erased, all you have to do is go to the main page tap on what you want back and tap on restore. I erased some GIFs I used on Facebook Messenger, and I only wanted to restore one and not all. It looks like that’s not an option, it only allows you to restore or delete them all. Hopefully, they will add that feature in future updates.
If you’re a neat freak and even want to keep things you’ve erased organized, you can! Just tap on the second set of uneven lines and choose to either have them organized by Date, Size, Type or Name.
How to Recover Deleted Files on Android
You may not be able to restore certain GIFs on Messenger, but you can restore certain videos and pictures. That’s what the first set of uneven lines at the top allows you to. Tap on the uneven lines and then on the files you want to recover. That’s all there is to the app. It doesn’t bombard you with other features you’re probably not even going to use. If all you want to get is a beginner-friendly app that allows you recover deleted pictures and video on any Android device, Dumpster is an excellent choice.
Wrapping It Up
I don’t think that there a single person on the face of the planet that has not erased a picture or video by accident. It’s happened once, and there is a good chance that it is going to happen again. If you ever do erase something by accident again, you’re prepared. It’s even great to pull a prank on someone. Install the app (without them knowing of course) and erased an important picture and enjoy watching them freak out about it. Do you think that you will give the app a try? Let me know in the comments.
